It Starts, 1st Day of Chemo 12-6-25

Here we go! We arrived at The University of Washington Medical Center at 8 am this morning. After getting settled in the room, nurse Erin took R’s vitals and some blood for testing. The chemo drip (called Fludarabine) started at 12:30 pm. He’ll get the same chemo tomorrow and the next day followed by 2 days of a much more intensive one (Melphalan) the final 2 days. That’s the one that will probably cause diarrhea and vomiting plus open sores in his moth, throat and GI tract. Stem cells go in on December 12th. He’s in great spirits. My hero! Thanks to Marsha Krone for the pillowcase. 🫶🏼

I told a friend that the belly in the pic is all spleen and she said she thought it was all Christmas cookies. 😬
